Managing Topics

Starting a Topic

On a Group's page, Topics are visible in the top left corner under the name of the Group itself.

In this example, the Innovation Team has 7 Topics. Click on the plus icon () to view a list of all 7 Topics in this Group. Click and write within a Topic to join the discussion.

Want to add a new Topic? Here's how:

1. Visit the Group in which you would like to start a new Topic.

2. Click on the same plus icon () in the top right corner of the page.
3. Name your Topic in the dialogue.

4. All set! Your new Topic is now visible to everyone in the Group.

Deleting a Topic

Only owners and admins can delete a topic. To do so:

1. Select the More Options icon in the topic space.

2. Click on Delete Topic, which will prompt a dialogue to confirm the deletion or to cancel the action.

3. Within the prompted dialogue, a confirmation checkbox will appear (by default, this is not checked). Once the user selects the checkbox, the Delete Topic button will then become enabled and available for selection. Click on the button to finalize the deletion.

4. To cancel the action, select Cancel.

5. Owners of a group can also navigate to the Group Details area and delete one topic at a time from the list. Hover over any topic, which will display the More Options icon. After selecting the icon, the Delete Topic option will appear. Select this to officially delete the chosen topic.

Note: Once a topic is deleted, it is removed permanently along with all corresponding topic notes and missed activities. Users of a group will be informed that a topic is deleted through a group notification. The message will also display the name and the profile image of the user that deleted the topic.

Archiving a Topic

Archiving ensures that you can easily access a topic without needing to search for it within a group. To archive, proceed with the following:

1. Select the More Options icon within the topic space.

2. Click on Archive the Topic, which will prompt a dialogue to confirm or cancel the action.

3. Within the prompted dialogue, two options are displayed:

• Archive Topic: This option will confirm the archive option. Once completed, the user will be brought back to the area of the group that contained the topic.

• Cancel: This option will close the dialogue and exit the user. The topic will not be archived.

4. To revert changes and undo the topic archive, the user can select Undo from a small bar that appears in the area of the space where the topic was present. The bar will disappear automatically from the screen after a few seconds.

Note: When a topic is archived, the content within the topic is not deleted. It is simply hidden from view within the corresponding space.

Removing a Topic from the Archive Space

In order to remove a topic from being archived, the user can search for the topic name within the main search bar. All archived topics are shown in a space separate from the main topics list, indicating that the user cannot engage in sending messages within archived topics like they would with regular topics. To proceed:

1. Select the topic of choice. By hovering on the topic, the More Options icon will display.

2. Choose from the following within the More Options menu:

• Unarchive Topic: This option will remove the topic from being archived and make it visible again within the group. All functionalities (messaging, etc.) will be restored.

• Delete Topic: This will delete the topic entirely from Workspace. Refer to the Deleting a Topic section within this page to review the actions associated with deleting a topic.
